DASSIE ARTISAN

At Dassie, fairtrade principles are at the core of everything they do.

The manufacturing process of each of their products strongly adheres to five key principles of sustainable development:

Quality of life
Fairness and equality
Participation and partnership
Care for the environment
Respect for ecological constraints

Their mission is to build relationships with, and promote the work of talented artisans in developing countries by bringing their creations to a wider market. They seek to empower these artisans to make a living from their skills and create better lives for themselves.

Dassie is a proud member of the WFTO (World Fairtrade Organisation) and BAFTS (British Association of Fair Trade Shops). As members of BAFTS they adhere to their Ten Principles of Fair Trade and work to support their aims. To summarize, their principles seek to create opportunities for disadvantaged producers by means of fair trade practices and accountability. This entails payment of a fair wage, no child or forced labour, gender equity, lack of discrimination, good working conditions, and respect for the environment.

Dassie’s mission is to work directly with artisans in developing countries to produce unique, design-led homeware. They seek to empower artisans to use their traditional skills and techniques to reach a broader market and create better lives for themselves and their communities. Their aim is to celebrate individuality and acknowledge our responsibility to inspire and educate our customers to make conscious and honest buying decisions.
